New pet fish

This household finally have an official pet!  After about a month of Graham's Tamagotchi (electronic pet egg), Graham reminded me that if he can prove to us that he is responsible, we can get a fish.  Well, the Tamagotchi did technically "die" a few times, but he did seem quite responsible. I hope Graham realize that there's no reset button for the fish!

We decided to visit a local fish store not far from us.  Yikes! These saltwater live corals are expensive!!!

$300 for a grouper??!  WOAH!!!
Well, we came home with a $10 Betta, although we're not quite done yet with the total tally:
The cheapest expense so far is the $2 fish bowl that I had picked up from the neighborhood App.  Maybe we should have just ended there.  Ha ha!  Anyway, the total tally from the fish shop was $80!
But I have to say, our fish bowl is looking quite nice :-)

Everything we picked up in the store was basically about $10.  The fish, 2 snails ($4 each), the live plant, food, water conditioner, gravel, and of course the boys wanted to pick out an aquarium decor each.  Charlie picked up Dory and Nemo and Graham picked up Bailey, who was also in the Finding Dory movie.  In this bowl, Bailey (the white beluga whale to the right in the tank) is trying to use his echolocation, just like in the movie.

As with the 2 snails, the first one has stripes on its shell like a tiger, as mentioned by the store owner.  So, naturally we named this snail Tiger:
And then, this snail's shell is like a zebras, again as mentioned by the store owner.  So, without even thinking, please meet Zebra :-D
And as for our Betta's name... meet "Fishy"! Yup, just plain Fishy.  Bobby actually suggested Sushi but that was vetoed by Graham.
Graham was actually eyeing a beautiful male red Betta but it was like $30!  And we weren't sure if anything was going to survive in this fish tank.  Ha ha!  This one is still pretty.  She even recognizes feeding time now:
So far so good!  Our theory has worked so far - the live plant helps with providing some air for the fish and the snails do some cleaning up in the bowl.  It's been 2 weeks and we've cleaned the fish bowl only once.  And everyone is still fine and dandy (fingers crossed).  And the snails are awfully close to each other.  By the way, did you know that some snails are hermaphrodites - i.e. have both male and female sexual organs???  Interesting..!
Supposedly the deal now with Graham is if Fishy last for a month, he can have a pet lizard??!  Whaaaat??!!
