Finally fixing up the Front Livingroom

Now that we will be living in California for just a bit longer, Bobby and I decided to fix up the house a little bit - one area at a time. We've been wanting to fix the recessed lights in the front living room for quite a while now.  There's 13 of them!  And I'd say maybe just a little over half of them are actually working.  And some of them aren't even lined up properly.  I wonder what the thinking was... perhaps the previous homeowners had 6 of them up at first but then decided they needed more and sort of tried (or perhaps didn't really try to hard!) to line them all up properly? Who knows.. anyway, it's looking so much better now!  And we have reduced them to 8 recessed LED lights - which will no longer buzz or turn on and off when it gets too hot.  That's almost scary!  I'm surprised we didn't fix them sooner.  Ha ha!

I'm so glad our electrician from when we first moved in called us back.  The quote from another guy was a bit higher.  Labor is never a cheap thing here as we have come to realize.

And check out these fancy new LED lights.  You can actually pick the colors of the light - from warm to more white, by switching a button on the back of the light fixture before tucking it into the wall. Neat!
Here are some of our old recessed lights outside on our front stoop.  So happy to see all 13 of them go! Except when I asked, I was told by the electrician that the lights are not being recycled, which seems odd in this and day:
Already looking so much better!  Yes yes., except for the holes... and there's 8 of them to cover up!
And the electrician doesn't cover up the holes so we have to call the drywall guy.  It was the same guy that repatched our back living room a couple of years ago.  He did a great job so we figured he would be the one to come back - except he doesn't really speak English!  So I had to first communicate via text messages using a translator to get him to show up again. I'm glad he remembered us :-)
Thankfully the buddy he brought over spoke English, so the work and payment was taken care of easily.  Ta da!!!
Okay, so still not quite done yet.  You can obviously still see the visible patches on the ceiling. The drywall guy is coming back to paint the ceiling this weekend and we are still waiting on our new light fixture that I had ordered.  It will look something like this:
Hopefully the "Sputnik" light fixture will look better than my drawing.  Ha ha! I gave the boys a couple of options and this is the one they went with as well :-) Can't wait to get this room finally all fixed up (minus the dust and clutter - Ha ha ha!!!).

Hmmm... I better start planning for our next project!
