"Nubby" the Canoe

A few months ago, a neighbor across the lake were giving away their canoe.  And of course Mommy decided to jump on the opportunity to own one.  As if we don't already have enough stuff.  Ha ha!!

Here it is.... needs a little work!
A little hole towards the back:
Let's hope these waterproof tape works as advertised!
And technically, the water shouldn't be getting in from there, unless we tip over!

Some of the screws needed tightening.  Good job, Graham and Charlie :-)
And now, for a name.  Charlie wanted to name it after the black Labrador/Corgi that belongs to my friend in KY:
And while I'm cutting out the words, yup - on the phone!
Okay, here goes - Nubby it is!
Some black spray and also some gold glitter spray that you can't quite see though from afar:
Happy Charlie!
I'd say our Nubby is looking pretty good from just an hour ago.  The green color was a good choice :-D
We did also attach a new rope to the front, with a stick - so we can pull the canoe around:
Temporary fix for now until I find something else that will look better!

Well, the July 4th celebrations are coming up and there is a kayak/canoe race.  We haven't decided if we are going to race in it yet.  Bobby has to be at work, so we are one man short! (Yes, back at work for Daddy!).

We did take Nubby out a few days after fixing it up.  Look at all the stuff we have packed in it.  The metal is so hot in the sun so we are experimenting with what will work - including a little beach chair. Ha ha!
It floats!!!
It was definitely tricky getting everyone into the canoe. Quite a bit more wobbly than I had expected.

Graham and Charlie are happily fishing while Mommy and Daddy paddle around the lake.  And I think Graham had the most comfortable seat in that canoe with that beach chair:
I'm glad we didn't topple over with this photo - as Daddy said, "Boys, lean over to one side!":
I'd say Nubby is in a good spot by the lake :-)
We probably need to get a few more paddles but what a fun little ride around the lake in the canoe.  I'm so glad we picked it up :-D
