Charlie's tooth

Charlie had a wiggly tooth last week and after a little while of trying to wiggle it out some more, it finally fell off.  And I guess this is what happens with the 2nd kid - the Tooth Fairy has yet to show up!  We couldn't find the little bag that the tooth normally goes into because yes, it's still packed in a box somewhere.  We currently have the tooth in a little cup for now and obviously, even Charlie has forgotten about it.

This tooth is, or was I guess - his lower left pre-molar and looks like it's right on schedule to come out - between 10 and 12 years old.  Yay!

Just last week I did notice how bad his teeth looked though.  I could literally see the plaque build-up around his gum-line.  So I asked Charlie if he had been brushing his teeth in the bathroom as we can hear but not see him actually doing it.  And he admitted that all he had been doing was running his electric toothbrush, pretending to brush his teeth.  Wait, what??!  Sheesh, I don't understand this kid sometimes. Especially at this point when we are still waiting for health insurance to kick in!  Anyway, another one of those conversations and hopefully this time, Charlie will get it into his little head about how important it is to brush his teeth.

Speaking of  no health insurance, Charlie had a fall yesterday off his bike and thankfully no broken bones (that we know of yet!).  He did have a couple bad spots that needed bandaids (right knee and left ankle) and some scrapes on his left elbow and also on his belly.  Poor kid!  We just picked up a new (used) bike for both boys over the weekend and I guess now that they can go up these hills more on those gear bikes, they are maybe being a tad more reckless coming down it?!  I suppose they will learn eventually. Sort of like with the teeth brushing!!
