Flying Flags (cont.)

Graham and I survived the first cold night in the tent!

We get changed and head over to the Airstream.  There's Charlie!
Boys and their TV!  I can't believe they actually put 2 TVs in this tiny RV.  What does that tell you about the culture we live in these days??!
Here's a quick peek at what it's like around here: Flying Flags Video

Off to get some breakfast!  Daddy is out trying to get better internet for his interviews, so the boys and I are out looking for breakfast:
Graham high-fived this little guy and knocked off its flag.  Oops!
I'm glad the on-site store has something that both boys will eat:
And we also brought the summer sausage and cheese that was given to us by our neighbor.  Yummm...
And looks like Graham and Charlie did not leave me any cereal:
Okay, time to hit the pool!  It's nice and warm today:
Awww... more signs of brotherly love.  Or Charlie is just trying to choke Graham. Ha ha!
The splash pad is open too, but the boys are looking rather cold here:
Bobby's interviews are all done and it's time for lunch. We're going to try the famous Pea soup.  Wish us luck!
I love the old style chandeliers:
Here comes the soup!  I love these bowls with the fancy logo:
But first, family we-fie!
I think Bobby is cleaning up the plate just so he can see the drawing that's on it.  And so yes, the pea soup was actually quite yummy:
And okay, no - maybe I was the one that told him about wanting to see that picture at the bottom of the bowl :-P
I was tempted to buy this soup bowl but it was sort of expensive.  So, this photo would just be it!

As for Charlie, he really insisted on these sunglasses.  Oh boy!
Here's the can of pea soup.  Wow, that's a lot of sodium!!! 880mg for 1 cup... Yikes!
I thought this was interesting... there's a building right next door to the restaurant:
Yup, this entire building was transported piece by piece, all the way from England - and here it is now:
It's getting a bit late but we are going to head out to the Nojoqui Falls.  But first, our first glimpse of the windmill from the Sideways Inn that's being restored I'm assuming:
So pretty and serene around here:
I'm glad the waterfall is not too far away.  I'm not too concerned about the "Crowded" sign but more about the sign above it.  Mountain lion??!  Let's hope we don't see one today!
I love the trees around here:
There's so many branches that branch out from the bottom of the trunk:
Family we-fie!
I'm glad it's not a long walk.  Hmm... we're going to pretend we didn't see this sign as the waterfall is just at the end of this trail - beyond this fence:
Ta da!!! So okay, no water but the water(less)-fall is still pretty cool!
Even the boys were still quite fascinated by it:
Another family we-fie:
There's barely a trickle:
Graham spotted this little baby waterfall while we were leaving and said this was reality compared to what we actually saw.  Graham has quite the choice of words these days:
Okay, time to head back.  Which way with the boys take?
So yes, Charlie is being his careful self and Graham is totally taking a risk going along the side of this fence.  And actually, he had already slipped a couple of times prior to this:
Such an interesting looking tree!  I told the boys I saw an old hunch man, so Graham was trying to imitate it:
Perfect natural slide!
There's still some daylight so we are hoping to catch the Elverhoj Museum in Solvang before it closes.  They were closed the last time we were there so hoping to see it this time instead.  On the way, we spot an ostrich farm.  I see them!
Bobby and I love this stretch of road.  Both sides are flanked with fancy wineries:
You know when you're in Solvang when you see horse-drawn carriages:
We made it with about 45 minutes to spare!
Love the inside of this door! And I didn't notice the amazing stained glass the last time either. So pretty!
These flowers were hand-painted by the end of the beams of the ceiling.  More pretty stuff!
And how cute is this kitchen cabinet:
These walls are so intricate.  How cute!!!  And I love the old style light too that's hanging from the ceiling:
There's a little barn out in the back:
I just noticed that every single shingle on this roof is hand-sawed.  That's a lot of time to cut and then nail every shingle on the roof individually:
By the way, speaking of nails - there's not a single nail in this Elverhoj museum (they have a different style of roof). Isn't that amazing??!

Off to downtown Solvang.  The sky was amazing this evening:
Since we've been here before, the boys knew exactly which store they wanted to go into - the fancy toy store of course!
Time to find some dinner.  But first, we saw this window display.  It's a whole bunch of Kokedamas! Those are the plants where the roots are put into a ball, tied up in twine, and then hung.  Love it!
Awww... what a cute fox.  Looks like our air-dry fox might need some work compared to this one.  Ha ha!
We end up at the same Italian restaurant that was across from our inn from our previous trip.  We even got a smiley face greeting from the oil and vinegar ;-)
After a lovely meal, it's time to head back.  Boys were so excited to try out their new lights that they had bought during the trip to get breakfast. Very cool!
Speaking of which, they were suppose to pay us back half of that cost.  I totally forgot!  And I'm sure they didn't bother reminding me about it either.

Time for some s'mores!
I love how this RV park provided us with a firepit with a little bit of firewood.  We did have to get more firewood and also a lighter.  Next time we'll have to remember about the lighter. But glad we remembered our skewers and all the necessary ingredients for s'mores:
And we came home with even more desserts:
And looks like we need to bring our own poking stick next time too.  The only thing we found was a spatula :-D
Brrr... another cold night!  This time Charlie is with me tonight and he even has his elf hoodie on :-)
Onward to more adventures tomorrow!  To be cont...
