Archery adventure (Dec 5)

Charlie and I decided to head out to a different archery range a couple of weeks ago.  It was actually quite a hike as it was located in Chino - which is about 1 hour away from us.

Such a foggy morning!

And I was using the navigation in the car and it ended up taking us to some dirt road.  Hmmm....
Found it!  It was on the opposite side of the street.  Sheesh!  And it's still foggy... and cold too!
There was some confusion about the free Youth Class, so we ended up being taken to the archery field range.  It's sort of like golf where there are different tee boxes or in this case "pegs" that are in the ground.  And you pick which peg to shoot from depending on your age/level:
Some of these targets are further away than what we normally practice:
I love how they use old laundry metal stands to hang the bows:
And some targets are different than others and there are all sort of rules to follow based on these various targets:
After about over an hour with our "guide" and going around the course, we opted to practice some target shooting at the range:
This is quite the setup!  At the range that we normally go to, we shoot either 9 meters or 18 meters.  At this range, it is set up to 80 yards! And the targets are set up in increments of 5 yards so you can definitely dial in on that sight:
Well, not quite what Charlie and I expected for the morning (and it was an early one!) but we are happy to have discovered the archery field range.  Perhaps once Graham's collarbone is healed, we can come out here for a shoot-about.

Time for lunch! Charlie opts for mac-and-cheese with tater tots and a root-beer.  Yummy root-beer. I haven't had one of those in a while:
And I opted for a burger and onion rings.  Those are the biggest onion rings I have ever seen!!
It was basically a whole-day affair having to drive that long way home too.  Charlie was definitely tired.  Ha!  And don't mind me in my pink sunglasses... I had forgotten my "normal" ones at home :-P
We were suppose to head over to the same archery range for a charity event the following week, but we never did do that.  There was an impromptu plan to head up to Minnesota and there's lots of packing and organizing to do! More to come on that :-D
