Ice fishing

Charlie finally got his chance to go ice fishing this year!  We were just on our way back from Lake Geneva when his fishing buddy's mom texted me.  Thankfully we made it home in time because we were all getting ready to take Graham to the local high school for the Orchestra Festival in the afternoon.
So cute, these kids fishing with their little ice fishing holes.  Charlie is definitely loving every moment of it!
Caught one!!  These two are too cute together!!
Okay, time to measure the fish.  I believe the pike was 26" long.  Nice!
The fish was caught using one of these contraptions:
Looks like it's called a Tip-Up. The flag basically gets released and tips straight up once a fish catches on the bait and pulls on it.  Clever!  That's probably my way of fishing. Ha ha!

The pattern on the melting ice is so neat!
Closer up:

Here's a slow-motion of video throwing up a block of snow:
Pretty neat!

It might be a while again before we can get back on the ice. It's been warming up and more than the lake has already melted now. Glad we were able to be on the ice when we did!
