Golf Camp (June 21-25)

We ended up paying for golf camp this summer.  Normally we would participate in the one that is sponsored by LA City, but unfortunately the email had come out after I had already paid!  And then I wasn't quite thinking either, but I should have immediately signed the boys up for some extra golf camp time as well.  As per usual with the LA City camps, it filled up super quick!  Oh well, I suppose it will make me dig up some more activities that we've never done before in the surrounding area.

I tied Graham and Charlie's hair up in little pony-tails.  He he, too cute! I'm glad they didn't mind it :-)
Masks on and ready!
There were a lot of kids than I had expected and there were also a handful of kids without their mask on.  Grrr....  I checked the LA county website and supposedly masks are optional for outdoor activities. How is that possible when no kids below 12 years old are vaccinated right now? Are they not aware of this Covid Delta variant?!  Anyway, I made myself heard by the organizer and that was all I could do at this point.

In the meantime, Graham and Charlie were not too amused at only hitting 5 golf balls on the driving range during their 1-hour range session:
There was some instruction but very minimal.  I suppose you can't ask for too much when there are 10 kids to an instructor.  But then again, we paid some good money for this camp!
At least there's some shade for me to keep an eye on the boys while they chip/pitch:
They're looking my way.  Did they spot me spying on them??!
Lunch time!  We discovered some yummy fluffy pancakes:
We doubled up on the breakfast sausage order, which unfortunately turned out a bit spicy for the boys.  But Charlie was totally into eating the eggs:
After lunch, we hit the range since both boys were not satisfied with only hitting a limited number of balls.  Charlie's swing had gotten quite fast for whatever reason.  Although he did ask me at one time "Don't you have to swing faster to hit the ball further?"  I wonder where he got that idea from:
Graham has made quite the improvement to his swing!  His balance is so much better these days:
Although his not too into the chipping and putting after.  We might have to work on that one. LOL!!!
Time for a treat after golf!
O M Goodness... I definitely missed a spot when spraying sunscreen on my legs.  I should have pulled my capri pants up a little bit more when applying sunscreen. I just didn't want to ruin my pants with that sunscreen spray.  So looks like I'm going to have a nice tan line for a bit.  Ha!
The next day, more yogurt treats after golf:
Sugar crash??!  I don't know how Charlie sleeps like that in the car.  I would really hurt my neck that way!
By the 3rd day of camp, I decided to go out and hit some balls while waiting for the boys.  Yikes, not quite hitting the sweet spot of the club:
Charlie was complaining about his ears being painful so I had him wear a big hat today. I had originally wanted him to do that on Day 1 but he was insistent on wearing his new favorite cap:
I really do spoil these boys.  I finally got to use their fancy bento boxes/tupperwares again:
Graham was super happy with his fried rice with mortadella, which is his favorite meat.  He discovered back in Abu Dhabi and we recently found some at the German supermarket:
Another tiring day.  Ha ha!
Here is one of Charlie's poor ear! With some better lighting I realized that this one had a blister and had popped. OUCH!!!
Here's the blister on the other ear.  I've never seen or heard of anything like this before!
We managed to get some aloe vera spray with lidocaine and that really helped with the pain.  I also rubbed some real aloe on it.  The blister disappeared after a few days and the area where the blister had popped scabbed over nicely.  We'll definitely have to be careful the next time we go out under the sun!

On Thursday, I was finally able to find the sweet spot of my golf club. Yay!!!
And we busted out the push cart and the umbrella holder.  It's definitely hotter inland at this golf course:
While I'm out and about, I picked up some fresh juices and smoothies.  I did get a free one for my birthday but I figured I couldn't just show up with mine.  Ha!
Another yummy brunch! I had to give the breakfast tortilla a try.  Definitely no regrets there :-)
They ran out of pancake batter on the last day, so we didn't get anymore after Thursday.  All in all, Graham and Charlie did have a good time.  Graham said the only thing he learned was the difference between chipping and pitching.  Hmmm... definitely have to rethink this golf camp for next year.  At least we got to catch views of the Good Year blimp every day while driving by:
Someday, we'll have to try and get a tour of blimp. From what I heard, certain times of the year - you can actually make reservations to sleep overnight in it too!

Here's to more golf this summer with the boys! I'm still debating whether to get my amateur status back.  That way I can at least play in the local events.  We'll see what happens. Just a thought for now, or actually for the past 2-3 years now.  Ha!
