Roaming around Old Town Pasadena

Just this past weekend, after viewing some pianos and violins sales at the Cal State University, we decided to drive up to Pasadena for some dinner.  We found a Vegan restaurant where Bobby enjoyed his Kung Pao soy chicken.  Mommy played it safe by having flat noodles with tofu, and the boys tried out some Orange "chicken" but ended up finishing a plate of French Fries instead. Ha ha!

We drove into Old Town Pasadena to find some dessert and came across an olive oil store.  Bobby tried some balsamic vinegar.  Love his reaction here. Ha ha!
We found a gelato place where Graham had his usual of berries gelato (strawberry, raspeberry, or mixed berry).  I had taro gelato which by the way - taro is not the same as purple yam! And Charlie was the adventurous one and had the Charcoal gelato:
Yup, you read right - Charcoal!  I remembered eating charcoal tablets as a kid when I had a bad belly.  This gelato is literally black in color. It's a vanilla based gelato with actual charcoal in it! If anything, I guess it will clean out his digestive system :-D
And the other thing we discovered in Old Town Pasadena is a diagonal crosswalk!  We didn't notice it until we had actually missed our light and saw some people walking diagonally.  How cool is that!
We did get some hot chocolate just so we could get the code for the restrooms as well.  But blah... the hot chocolate was really disappointing - more water than hot chocolate.  But at least the building was cool:
Looks like they had closed up a few arched windows??!

Definitely a must visit again for Old Town Pasadena.  My retina ophthalmologist is actually in Pasadena so will at least have to drive by the gelato place again then :-)
