Happy New Year!!!

Wow... 2020! A whole new decade!  But that also means more white hair,... more aches and pains... hmm... let's see what else this new year brings us :-)

Graham and Charlie were finally able to test out a couple of their Christmas presents - their Heely shoes and also the metal detector.  Heely's are these shoes that have the wheels on the back heel.  But now come to find out, there are other similar ones where you can push the back-wheels in and out when needed, where as the wheels on these shoes need to actually be physically pulled out to be replaced with a flat pad so they can walk properly.  Guess I (I mean Santa) didn't do enough research on these!
Check out Charlie's socks too!  We bought those for him for his birthday a couple of years ago.  It has his name on it too, all the way below all of those macaroons.  Charlie LOVES macaroons!
Okay, let's try out this thing!
Boys aren't having a lot of luck:
Looks like they lost interest pretty quickly and have just decided to play on the sand:
Time to try out these Heely's!  We found a small little corner with a rug by an entrance to an office.  A bit tricky!
Charlie didn't quite attempt to really stand yet with the Heely's.  Ha ha!
Ahhh... loving the sunset by the beach.  Here's to many more sunsets in 2020!
And many more funny faces:
And many more Graham and Charlie teaching sessions??!
We recently bought Graham a new violin which is the next size up, which means Charlie can now use the 1/4 size violin.  This session only lasted a couple of minutes but hey, it's a start! :-)

By the way, speaking of music, we dropped by Cal State University in Los Angeles this weekend for their Piano and Violin Sale.  It was NOT what Bobby and I had expected!  You walk in and sign in and then you wait for the "Sales person" to greet you and take you on the tour, so to speak.  We probably waited about 15-20 minutes to see the pianos and then another 20-25 minutes after that to see the violins.  So while we waited for our turn, Graham and Charlie were busy looking at all the hammers moving inside the piano:
Or they were running around outside the Music Building, where weirdly enough there was a statue of Confucius.  Seemed a bit odd somehow!
Well, what was NOT odd or surprising I guess was how expensive these instruments were.  The cheapest electric piano we were looking at was about $1,000.  But it was super cool as it did have the same hammer-action as a regular piano AND also included all the bells and whistles of different sounds, USB port, and Bluetooth connectivity. WOW! And PS: Did you know that a Grand Piano can put you $85K in the hole??! WOAH!!!

And as for the violins, they did not have any sizes that would have been the next one up for Graham. Although it would have cost us at least $500 for an "Intermediate" level violin and over $1,000 for a "Professional" level violin. And that's half off the original price. YIKES!!! I suppose it's almost like buying golf clubs but I was always trying to get them for free ;-P

Okay, empty handed for the time being!
