New year, new IKEA cabinet

During the school holidays at the end of December, we went to see Daddy at his office.  And well, Daddy's office is really near an IKEA.  So needless to say, it was an expensive "lunch". LOL!!!
Ahh... I have forgotten how much is involved in getting an IKEA piece of furniture put together.  And I also had to patch up the holes where the previous shelving was in Charlie's room:
And of course, it's always a bit trickier when the boys are helping!  Thankfully we only made one mistake:
And then of course, the sample paint is a different sheen from the actual wall paint. Grrrr....
Not sure if building the shelf/cabinet in the bedroom was a good idea but looks like no one is getting in and out easily of the bedrooms right now!
Almost there!
I like how the cabinet is secured in the middle/inside one of the drawers rather than at the very top of the unit:
This smaller cabinet with the white doors was Charlie's original closet.  We had it in the Phoenix house when the boys were still toddlers.  It has definitely served its purpose:
Gosh, this whole project took longer than expected.  After the boys are asleep, I quietly put the 4 drawers together. And thank goodness for my new kneeling pad - a lovely Christmas gift from a friend!
Tada!!!
Charlie labeled his drawers too :-)
And now I have moved the bookshelf from Charlie's room into Graham's room.  Looks like the only place to put it is on top of his dresser:
Ta da!!!  Although it still looks a bit messy.  It seems to always be so difficult/tricky to keep his room clean!
It's a good thing he has a self-waterer for his new basil plant.  Otherwise it will probably be dead by now.  I'm actually surprised that it even sprouted to begin with!
Anyway, here's to LESS trips to IKEA for 2020.  Unless it's for something that doesn't need assembling.  Ha ha!!!
