We decided to commit to the skiing/snowboarding season and bought season passes! It will be good for all of next year, so in the meantime we are going to try and make the most of what is left this season. We made another trip to the slopes last Sunday. All of us definitely did a lot better this week vs last week!
We started the trip by heading to a used sports store to pick up some boots and skis for Daddy. Jackpot on the skis!! Those yellow boots didn't fit but it would have been easier to spot Bobby on the slope with those:
Somehow, this noodles place is now our go-to spot for dinner. But check out this sunset tonight! The next morning, we are hitting the slopes and poor Charlie though, we are still putting eye drops into his eyes because of his pink eye. We probably should have done it indoors because the glare from the snow was intense!
It is super slushy this weekend. The weather is rather warm and there's tracks from everyone's snowboard and skis everywhere. Makes it more difficult to stay up as well. Graham's reactions when he falls is too funny:
We all finally made it up to the top of one of the bigger bunny slopes:
We-fie!
Notice how the boys have already taken off their big jackets.
And here is that tow-rope. It was actually quite difficult to get up this bunny slope. The tow rope is constantly going and what you have to do is set your board/skis straight going up this slope. And then, you need to slowly grab on to the rope so you can be towed up. Not an easy task! There were actually tears from Charlie at one point. And I even saw kids and parents try this and eventually walk away:
But I'm so glad Charlie persistent and by the middle of the day, he was finally figuring it out. I had a tough time getting up this tow rope too actually! There was a spot where the snow would dip towards a pole and yup, there I went! Literally, a$$ over tea kettle and slammed into this pole. Thankfully the pole was wrapped with some sort of foam.

It's probably a good thing I've been continuing to work out every week because that helped me regain my ego to walk up the rest of the way of the bunny hill. LOL!! It is definitely a bit awkward when you lose your balance on the snowboard because your feet are bound to this board and you can't really recover very well. Bob is still questioning our decision to snowboard rather than ski. I just want to be cool like the kids. Ha ha!
Here comes Charlie down the slope. He has definitely improved since last week:
And here's that awkwardness when your feet are strapped to a board. Normally, we would unbuckle one foot and drag the board to your next stop. Well, Graham is learning to try and move around while both feet are still buckled onto his board. Too cute:
I tried jumping forward like that a couple of times and I was totally out of breathe. LOL!!
There's so much snow build-up on the other side of the boot/binding. Such a chore when it's so slushy!
Graham is having fun making little 3-tiered snowmen as he is waiting for us to get up the hill. Ha ha!!
It's a good thing the attendant in the little shack at the top of the bunny hill was so patient with all of us trying to get on the tow rope. She would actually stop the rope when she sees that someone has fallen.
Towards the end of our day, we moseied along to this one other slope. Looks like people are going to attempt to skim across a pool of water?!
Oh my gosh, this is hilarious!!
This guy made it over the water with no issues. I think there were more people that ended up in the water than over the end of it. This guy almost made it:
Definitely a good day of laughing and cheering! Maybe we can convince Bobby and the boys do to this next year ;-P
Charlie wanted to hit the slopes some more before calling it a day. And he wanted to go up the ski lift instead. Glad he is not afraid to go up on the lift:
Graham has yet to actually go on the ski lift. Bobby was explaining it to him - talking about how when it's time to offload from the lift, there's a little dip, etc. And Graham was like, Nope! Not going to do it. Ha! Hopefully he will change his mind this weekend. Yup, we are going to try and head up to WI again this weekend. I believe this will be the last weekend for the snowboarding/skiing season.
Here is tired Charlie on the way home. When he's not playing on his computer or eating, he is sleeping:
I keep telling the boys to read an actual book but Graham will either listen to a book (hence the earbud) or just stare out the window:
I don't know why the boys don't enjoy reading. I remembered reading so much during road trips - airplane and/or car. I wish I could still do that now but I actually get dizzy when I read in the car now! Getting old sure stinks! Hopefully there's a few more years of snowboarding and skiing in me and Bobby with the boys. Definitely fun family time :-D
But in the meantime, need to dry these gloves! We need to find some better waterproof ones for sure!!
I'm guessing there will be a lot of snowboarding gear on the Christmas list this year ;-)
