Peter and The Wolf (Feb 1)

We headed back to the Disney Music Hall a couple of weekends ago to watch (and listen) to Peter and The Wolf. It is a musical composition written by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev in 1936.  A classic!

On the way to the Music Hall, we go on this street with these large openings on the top:
We were stopped prior at the light because of some commercial shoot.  We tried to sneak a peek at the type of car for the commercial but they were covered up with these white plastic covers!

We arrive about an hour before the show.  Lots to do for the kids!
Charlie makes a bird mask and Mommy makes some cat ears - part of some animals of the show:
There is also a Musical Petting Zoo - where Graham shows off his violin skills.  The volunteer/lady said that it was the best thing she had heard all morning. Ha ha!
Graham really enjoyed the cymbals!  Not sure why Charlie didn't want to try:
Drums!  I'm so glad the boys haven't asked for any drums:
There is also a music workshop for everyone outside as well:
This guy had his hands full trying to teach 4 different sections/musical instruments the different rhythms to all play together:
Getting ready for the show.  These seats were a little bit closer to the stage than the Sing-a-long in December and much more comfortable:
Next to the organ pipes again!  These just continue to awe...
Reading the program while we wait and it says that the composer Prokofiev composed his first piano piece at the age of 5 and his first opera at age 9.  WOW!!!  Hmm... looks like we're already behind on our boys!
As usual, no cellphones during the show so only before and after photos!  Although this lady walked in late with 3 other kids and just as she sat down in the row in front of us (toward my right just a bit), she proceeded to take photos of the kids, the opera - with the flash on no less!  Then, she was texting throughout the show too and continued to take photos and videos!  How annoying! I eventually grew impatient and told her to stop using the phone.  Booyah!!!

Anyhow, the show ended a lot sooner than we had expected.  Nonetheless, we really enjoyed the music and the story, which was told by a young woman who played all the different characters in the music.  The french horns used to resemble the wolf was so creepy!
One more looks at the organ before leaving:
So many buttons and pedals!
We are always in the gift shop after, no matter what show/venue:
I did walk out with a new scarf too, so I can't complain.  I suppose it's as close as I will get to Paris as it is a scarf of the Eiffel Tower.  I did already get 2 compliments for it on the first day of wearing it this past Friday :-)

The death of Kobe is still quite a shocker.  All the local buses are having "RIP Kobe" on their display panels on the top of the bus:
Charlie bought this interesting looking puzzle, which Daddy had a fun time trying to figure out:
Another fun music performance!  This is our 3rd out of 4 shows that we had purchased in our bundle with LA Philharmonic.  Charlie and I have one last show - the famous pianist Lang Lang, which I believe will be performing in April.  Can't wait!
