Spring Break

Can't believe it is already April!  Graham and Charlie had a whole week off for Spring Break last week. They were back at school today.  Phew! It was nice to be kid-free again finally for at least part of the day. Ha ha!

We didn't plan for anything this break - so it was nice to not really have a schedule, except for the boys' baseball games.  Graham had a game on Thursday pm and Saturday morning (no more sleeping in on Sat!) and Charlie had a game on Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. Baseball is taking over our lives :-\

On Monday, I decided to take the boys out to the beach.  Graham and Charlie really wanted to go body boarding.  But first, I have to convince the boys to eat lunch.  Both these boys couldn't be more different.  Graham is more like Bobby - opting for salami and cheese:
... where as Charlie is more like me - opting for something more Asian like Avocado rolls.
Here's my view... not too shabby!
It's been so long since the last time the boys were in the water.  Glad they still remember how to body board!
I don't know how these kids do it - the water is so cold!  Well, they were shivering when they got out of the water. Ha ha!  Eventually, I will step into this ocean. I did buy a thicker swimsuit but it doesn't cover up the legs.  Hmm...
In the meantime, I am just going to stand guard and make sure our big umbrella/tent doesn't fly away and impale a beach-goer!
I also took the boys to a batting cage for the first time this week. The boys started out with the slowest pitch by the machine at 35mph.  Still pretty fast!!! But by about the 50th pitch, both Graham and Charlie were starting to get the hang of it.  The vibration off the bat when you do hit the ball though was another thing... OUCH!!!
The boys were so persistent on going fishing that we finally actually did!  Well, the boys did.  Graham and Charlie both bought new mini fishing rods and then having to go back and buy hooks and bobbles, we finally took them to a park/lake to go fishing.  I am just glad they didn't hurt anyone while trying to cast their line!
We obviously didn't catch anything since we didn't put on any bait on our hook!  But the main idea was that they both had a good time despite only fishing up twigs and weeds. LOL!!!
Might have to get Charlie a step-stool next time!
We have also added another item in our yard - a baseball net!
This way the boys can practice their pitching and batting.   At 7ft by 7ft, it sort of fits right in between our two orange trees.  The boys just have to be a bit careful with the bees buzzing around the trees right now:
How much would a bee sting really hurt anyway??! :-P  Well, other than that, the new net is working out great!
And we have the perfect view of their practice from our new paved deck, thanks to yours truly :-)
What wouldn't we do for our children!??!
