Balloon festival, Peotone (July 24)

We actually bought tickets quite a while ago, thinking it would be something for us to do once we get into Illinois.  We didn't think Peotone was going to be that far... but it was THAT far.  Yikes!

Didn't take long until we picked a spot to settle down.  We weren't having much luck with the food though.  The first food truck only had Mac-n-Cheese (which was terrible and terribly expensive) and then, we opted for some fried mozzarella, fried chips, and corn dogs (chips were soggy, blah!).  I thought the corn dogs were pretty good but for whatever reason, the boys didn't want any??! They did enjoy the fried mozzarella so thankfully, they did get something into their bellies:

Graham and Charlie were just happy to hang out and lay on the blanket while we wait for Daddy.  He is stuck in this really slooooow line to get some tacos:
He's the one to the right of the tree in the light blue shirt - just killing time on his phone.  I think he lined up for over an hour!  I've never known Bobby to ever EVER do such a thing.  And then, never mind that - once we did get the food, the tacos were really bad too.  What is wrong with this place?!

Well, but looks like the balloons are finally being inflated over by the Grand Stands:
In the meantime, we are digging quickly into dessert, while the Tasmanian Devil balloon is slowly being inflated:
Hmmm, I thought there were going to be lots of other "traditional" balloons on display but looks like only the Tasmanian Devil and this funny looking one:
It's getting dark and you can see the balloons better:
But oh no!  The organizers are saying it's too windy.  Nooooo...!!!  We came all this way!!! I guess we should have dropped by yesterday instead but we thought it would have been too windy then!

And we are definitely not spending any more money on toys either!
Well, one last look before the 1.5hr drive home:
Can't believe it.  This whole balloon festival was unfortunately pretty lame.  But I guess if anything, we got to all spend time as a family and now I truly know that Bobby can actually wait in line for something!!  LOL!!
