Storm door installation

I can't believe it's August!  I'm so far behind with updating my blog.  Actually in Malaysia, visiting my dad who has been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks now.  His vitals are improving so hopefully he is on the road to recovery.

Quick blog on our recent storm door installation.  We decided to get one for the back door upstairs.  The packaging as Easy 45 minute installation - sooooo, how difficult can it be??!
I did have to prep the door area first, so that meant some painting and caulking. It's always the prep that takes forever.

Before:
Prep with blue tape:
Caulking at bottom - didn't have any regular caulking so this one looks almost like there's some sort of liquid at the bottom seal due to its shiny finish:
Black trim like the door downstairs:
Trim and prep done!
So how many Pridgens does it take to put up a storm door?
Apparently, all four of us. LOL!!
And then, there was this door handle.  How are we going to open it if it keeps hitting the door sill??? Hmmm....
In the meantime, Graham is having fun with the drill.  I'm so glad I found the battery charger for this drill:
Obviously, not a care in the world for this kiddo :-D
Graham and I headed back to the hardware store to figure out how to install the door handle.  And voila!  He did it!
And if you're curious how long it took, it was definitely not the EASY 45 minutes.  I think we took over 2 hours and did have a slight hiccup installing the top part of the storm door.  I also had to look for 3 extra screws.  I'm glad I found some easily in one of my many toolboxes.  He he!

But overall, just glad we were able to save a few bucks with install and it was also a great bonding moment for the family.  Here's the time-lapse of the install, until we were stuck with that silly door handle. Here's the video link below:

Mind you, it's almost 10 minutes long.  Enjoy!! :-D
