Looks like I'm lagging behind again on these postings. Can you believe it's already April??! Where do these days go??
Towards the end of last month, I decided to sign all of us up for a beach clean-up that's organized by my alma mater Arizona State University. We actually were driving to Hermosa Beach for this event two weeks prior but there was a St. Patrick's Day parade going on and we couldn't get to the meeting spot. Come to find out, they had actually changed the date. Ha!
Finally, on the (correct) day itself, we meet up by the Tim Kelly surf statue. He was a LA County Lifeguard, Surfer, and Youth Worker. He unfortunately died in a car accident in the mid 60s.
All geared up and all ready to do some clean-up! We were given some fancy ASU sunglasses too :-)Funny enough, there was a wooden crate by the edge of the water. We obviously showed up at the right time to pick it up!
There were so many bits of gooey and stinky tar on the beach. Yuck!! Boys got some of their feet and it's so difficult to wash off!
Posing time by the Lifeguard shack:
This was the boys when we first showed up in California almost 5 years ago now. Look how small they were! Graham and Charlie's heads were barely just over the top railing. Ha ha!Looks like Daddy is more than ready to go:
Managed to entice everyone to have some breakfast first ;-PYummy food and a LOT of it!! Except nothing that's so appetizing for Graham. He doesn't know what he's missing!
I'm so glad we were finally able to mingle a little bit with some other ASU alums. Weirdly enough, quite a few of them are/were in the movie/production business!
We actually have signed up for the Tillman Run that's in about 3 weeks. Actually 2 1/2 weeks. I not sure about Bobby, but I know I'm in no real shape to actually run. Ha ha! It will most likely be a walk for me - 4.6 miles as 46 was Pat Tillman's number. He was a football player during the same time when I was at ASU. After graduating, he was drafted to play for the Arizona Cardinals. But not long after that, he decided to join the army. He was unfortunately killed by friendly fire. Nonetheless, we are more than happy to support the Tillman Foundation!
