I think it's funny how they say it's a 5th Grade Promotion and not a "Graduation" from Elementary school. A parent had volunteered some time to take photos of all the kids in 5th Grade. And since Graham was all dressed up, I figured we would go to an iconic lighthouse to take some photos too.
But before that, here's Graham after putting his mortarboard hat together. We had purchased some fabric and some parents again had volunteered their time to glue the fabric together. The kids just had to measure their heads and put it all together. I love the comradery of our school!
The kids are suppose to decorate the top of their hats, but Graham was just happy with it as is. He does have a little pug with big eyes on the top to hold the tassel. So cute! Here's Graham by Point Vicente Lighthouse. He looks so sophisticated!
Graham is still going to need some help to get through 5th Grade. His teacher actually had him redo some of his Social Studies. The one to the left was before and the one to the right is after. He obviously still needs some direction on getting things done at grade level:
But if anything, we know that he can do it! He has been struggling since the very beginning. This was what his teacher in Abu Dhabi wrote when he was in Year 1:
Everyone says this kid is smart. I do have to say, I was very impressed when he discovered "voice typing". I wish I had that during college! And he has also discovered all these keyboard short-cuts and also how to get around the block we put on specific websites by opening up an Incognito window. This kid is definitely testing his boundaries!I hope the new middle school is as impressive and as supportive as what it seems to be. In the meantime, can't wait to start my summer in the next couple of weeks! :-)
