Back at the Natural History Museum

It has been almost 2 years since our last visit to this museum, thanks to the shutdown most of last year.  The museum has therefore extended our membership and now reopened with timed-entry tickets only.  This is out first real outing since... forever!

Starting off with this massive jet airplane:
Sometimes I still wonder if dinosaurs are really real.  I mean, c'mon... were these things really roaming on earth??! They do make awesome family we-fie :-)
I love these reminders on how to wear a mask properly.  Too cute!
Ahhhhh...!!!
Run away! Run away!!!
So, okay... I did have Graham and Charlie stage those.  But this fish is definitely not staged.
There's actually another "big mouth" one... blaahh...!!! Definitely not anyone's favorites.  Ha ha!

Let's just stick to bugs for  now.  Anyone find the leaf insect???!
Nature is so amazing! The arrows are pointing to it's feet hanging on to the branch upside down:
More bugs!!!  But these are super tiny! (Displayed in the Rotating Room):
There were several tiny bugs on display and then, they would take these AMAZING photos with the museum's Keyence digital microscope.  The photos are so detailed with tiny hairs and what not. So cool!!!
Graham's favorite part was an old Rolls Royce airplane engine.  And he obviously still likes these bubble thingys...
Always something from the gift shop!  I was finally able to exchange a shirt that Bobby had bought for me.  I don't know why he still thinks I'm a Size M.  More like XL at this point. Ha ha!

The Natural History Museum never disappoints. Although, we didn't get a chance to visit the Butterfly Pavilion this time.  The tickets were already oversold when I looked it up online.  Oh well, next time! In the meantime, just strolling around the vicinity of the Science Museum, which is just next door.  Someday we will need to go see the Space Shuttle Endeavor!  I think this is just the fuel jet - I don't remember what Bobby told me now, but it's just MASSIVE!!!
Photo op!
Last but not least, we just had to try out this pulley system.  When was the last time you lifted a 6,645lbs??!
Here's the video:
What a fun day!  We were so tired but decided to go get some (take-out) food at an Italian restaurant in downtown LA.  It was definitely worth the wait but gosh, parts of LA are so sketchy! It's no wonder we don't venture out too much. Ha!
