So unfortunately, our third and last chrysalis did not become a butterfly. It was a chrysalis for a really long time:
It looks like the chrysalis did break open but somehow the butterfly just didn't emerge :-/
We finally took it down/out of the butterfly cage:
Bummer... makes me so sad that this one didn't make it :-(
I did spot a caterpillar on one of the milkweed plants in the front-yard but just as I was going to capture it, the caterpillar disappeared!
Well, hopefully with a few more milkweed plants in and around our garden, there will be more Monarch caterpillars to come! And if anything, we made sure at least 2 more Monarch butterflies are back within its population. Yay!
